About
Chris Daniels
For British artist Chris Daniels, colour is everything. Daniels’ method is about constraint and limitation. The shapes are clean, minimal, reduced, originating not from movement or gesture, but from external elements – signs, windows, objects. Yet through simplification (and often repetition) these shapes have become ambiguous and abstract.
Bright, noisy, strong yet never harsh, these paintings explore specific shapes through assorted combinations of colour. Daniel graduated from the Royal Academy Schools in 2008, and Loughborough University in 2004.
He lives and works in Margate, and has work in private collections worldwide.
