About

Jo Lewis

Jo Lewis is a British artist based in South London. Originally trained in Edinburgh and France, Jo is known for her large scale inks created in the flowing waters of rivers and seas. Drawn for many years to the idiosyncrasies and power of water, Jo’s practice traces the fragile moments of interaction between paper, ink and the elements, exploring processes which make visual natural movements that underlie our environmental and physical connectivity. Her works holds the resolution of irresolution at its’ core.

Jo has exhibited extensively both in the UK and France. Recently Jo was shortlisted for the Visions of Science 2020 award and she was invited to present her work at the Drawing Research Network annual conference, 2021, on the subject of Temporal Drawing. Jo is also an artist educator at the National Gallery London and a visiting lecturer at London Film School and Paris College of Art.
