We were invited to GSA’s office in the middle of an extensive refurbishment, and asked to help them create an extensive rental scheme of artworks which would make the office feel ‘resi-mercial’.

Zoning areas with art

It was important to them that the office feel cool, creative, corporate and combine residential and commercial elements. Over two floors, we rotate nearly 150 artworks every 6 months, to keep the space new and exciting and the energy fresh. With so many spaces used for different types of work, we focussed on using the artwork to zone the different areas. We created min-curations inside the bigger project, to separate spaces that needed to be used for concentrated working, meetings, collaboration, energy boosts and break out spaces.

Commissioning statement pieces

As well as a rent and rotate project, we also helped GSA commission two artworks for their most important public spaces, the reception and the boardroom. Claire Chandler created a large canvas in exciting colours for the boardroom and Olly Fathers created 4 marquetry pieces which grace the wall of reception.
